Why must you hurt me this way?
I THOUGHT THIS WAS KIDDING SOGMLASG
HOLY SHIT
Prologue:
The sky was as clear as ever, and the sun gently warmed the castle grounds. The market was busy with the noise of pawns shopping for their meals, and working for their wages. A few shouts coming from the rooks at the gate of the castle walls, would occasional demand a small amount of silence as they pushed each other around. They were always careful to stay on the special paths laid out for them, since it was the only part of the roads that could support their massive weight when standing still. Though, occasional a rook paying no mind would begin to sink into softer ground when he doesn’t realize he’s off the path.
A knight bounds up the Eastern wall, climbing it with as few as 3 step. In his arms he carries a single piece of armor meant for a rook. As he climbed the tallest Eastern town, he stopped to catch his breath leaning against the wall. His eye’s gazed out the window to the Ivory Kingdom across the checkered fields of Hanjinnijnah. He wondered if they were as busy as the Ebony folk always were. Lost in thought, he’d not heard the rook approaching him from the last few stairs of the tower.
“Are you going to stand there all day, or are you going to give me my armor, runt?!” The rook shoved the knight, who nearly fell out the window he was looking at. He juggled the piece of armor trying not to drop it as he regained his balance.
“S-sorry! I meant no disrespect to the Queens Castle.” He bowed his head repeatedly as he held out the armor for the eldest rook of the Ebony Kingdom, the Queens Castle. Her personal rook. He was in charge of maintaining the kingdoms weapons and arsenals. With a grunt, he accepted the armor and lifted the canon that was his arm. A small section opened on the side of it and he placed the armor on it. The canon shifted shape, and a static charge flooded the area as his canon powered up.
“Bout time, my guns arms been low on energy for hours. So, why is the Kings Knight running errands for the Queen?” He asked, turning to head back up the stairway, aiming for the top of the tower.
“Oh umm… ” The knight followed him. “The King requested I lend a hand to her seeing as how I’ve finished my daily duties.” He glanced out to the Ivory Kingdom again as they reached the roof. With a single jump, he easily landed on one of the taller sections of the edge.
“Your daily duties? It’s only been 2 hours since daylight.” The rook approached a catapult, climbing into the spoon as he leaned over the edge to reach a gear out of place. Now, one might ask why anyone would climb into the spoon of a catapult, but a rooks skull is as thick as his armor. “Surely you’ve more to do then stick around bugging me.”
“Well, no not really…” The knight looked at the rook working, and jumped over to him. The knights ability to jump great distances was legendary, a few meters is nothing but a step to them. Landing directly next to the catapult he crouched down and watched the rook work. “The Knights are all exceptionally fast workers. Because of our weaker bodies, we don’t get any kind of physical labor besides our training. We mostly clean and organize the documents for the bishops in the library.”
“Figures. Weakling like you guys wouldn’t know a hard days work if it jumped up and tore off your ass.” Getting fed up with the practical approach to fixing the catapult, the rook began to hammer the gear with his canon. “Stupid thing! How’d this even get like this?!”
The knight couldn’t help but laugh at the rooks frustration. Glancing to the side, he noticed the release lever in locked position and reached for it. “Maybe you should have this in it’s unlocked position so that the gears will move easier?” He said as he pulled the lever. At that exact moment gear fell into place and the catapult fired the rook over the walls towards Ivory Kingdom. Cursing and shouting could be heard from him as he soared through the air getting further and further away. The knight simply watched as the rook crashed through one of the gates of the Ivory Kingdom, becoming buried in the ground on impact.
“Uh-oh… uhh… your majesty!” He turned and ran down the tower stairs, he needed to find the king and inform him as fast as he could of the accident. Hopefully, the Ivory Kingdom won’t take the accident as an act of war.
End. Thanks for reading! More to come soon hopefully.
